Scottish Outdoor Access Code
The Outdoor Access Code, as approved by Ministers and the Scottish Parliament details information about access rights and responsibilities for the general public. Under the current access code;
- Everyone, whatever their age and ability have access rights over most land and water in Scotland if these rights are exercised responsibly.
- As mentioned above these access rights apply to most land and water in Scotland including mountains, moorland, woods and forests, grassland, paths, tracks, lochs, coastal areas and more.
- You can access these areas for purposes which are recreational, educational and commercially (where the activities are the same as the general public).
Along with this access which applies to Kintyre and the Kintyre Way you must take care in the responsibility and safety of yourself and others and act in a way that is not detrimental to the environment, in a way that does not infringe peoples privacy, and in a way that is not unlawful or contradicts the outdoor access code.
We hope you enjoy the Kintyre Way and respect the environment and ecology that it shares with the peninsula. For more information on the outdoor access code please visit the official website at www.outdooraccess-scotland.com or pick up a leaflet from your local tourist office.
