Travel and Transport
Getting to and from Kintyre is fairly straight forward with transport services taking you to various places on the route.
Coaches and Buses
Bus transport ranges from nationwide bus services run by Citylink with a direct link from Glasgow to Tarbert, and then on to Campbeltown to local services which run from various places on the route such as Tarbert to Skipness and Campbeltown to Machrihanish.

Ferry
Travelling by ferry to Kintyre is a popular way of travel for many and can avoid long driving journeys depending where you travel from. Caledonian MacBrayne ferry services run from Portavadie to Tarbert, from Lochranza (Arran) to Claonaig and also from Tayinloan to Gigha plus many other services not connected to Kintyre.

By Air
Return or single flights are available from Glasgow to Campbeltown, or vice versa. There are two return flights (Monday to Friday) from Glasgow to Campbeltown and you can book tickets or find out more information on flights at the British Airways website by clicking here.
By Car
By far the most popular method of transport is by car. Tarbert, at the north most tip of Kintyre is approximately two hours leisurely drive from the west end of Glasgow, it is also one of the most beautiful drives passing along the banks of Loch lomond, before passing through Inveraray and then alongside Loch Fyne.
Although the official start point is in Tarbert, there is nothing stopping you travelling to any destination on the route and walking short sections or undertaking the walk in reverse. This will also ensure that Tarbert is not one huge car park!
Baggage Handlers & Taxi Services
There are baggage handling services and taxis in Kintyre which will transport your baggage to a specified location (subject to numbers) for a small charge, and also provide a taxi service to collect a group of passengers (subject to numbers) and transport them back to the beginning of the walk from the end or vice versa if you wish to tackle the walk in reverse.
